The Feline Retreat is your cats home away from home, when you're not home!

Taranaki's most upmarket feline retreat is where your cat would choose to stay if they were more than a one-line wonder (meoooow!).  

Set amongst the bush in Ridgewood/Frankleigh Park, your feline friend will be lounging about in a relaxed, homely environment (yes, there's a lounge!!), and will have access to wander in our fully-enclosed outdoor space - much like they would at home.  There's no crammed-up cages here... nothing but the best.. simply purrrrfect. 

Our purpose-built retreat offers all the comforts of home, and a few extras you might not expect...  The private cabins your moggy-mate will sleep in, each have their own ensuite... through the hole, to keep moggy's bed and food nice n fresh at all times.

We have double glazing, fully insulated and a heat pump to keep your moggys warm and comfortable, and those needing extra warmth we have self warming beds and heat pads available, to keep your fur babies cool in the hot months we have air conditioner and cooling pads for your cats to lounge on, as well as plenty of shade via plantings and shade sails in the outside area.

It really is the lap of luxury... stylish and affordable! We all love that don't we?!

T.F.R is run by moggy-mad Kim-Maree Morwood, who will tend to your cats every needs, and ensure their stay is relaxing, enjoyable and safe.  The retreat is separate to our family home, so your precious pet can feel totally secure, while we are just a hop-skip-and-jump away at any moment!

We offer some of the most affordable day-rates in the city, giving you cost-effective peace of mind while you are holidaying.  You can ensure your feline is being looked after, just as you would if you were right there with them... maybe even better!! ;)

We can message you daily and let you know how your cat is doing, and even send you a picture so you can rest easy, put your feet up, and get on with the important business of enjoying your holiday!

VETS & MEDICATION ADMINISTERING

If there are any issues, such as diabetes - we ensure your cat is fed according to their prescribed diet, and administer any medication at times required.  If your cat is due to attend the vet or any issue arises while in our care, we don't miss a beat and we get them where they need to go!  Just like a human it's important to have check-ups, so we understand some things just cannot wait.

We won't put your cat on a lead and walk them around the neighbourhood... we promise!! They have a fully enclosed yard and can exercise, scratch trees, and play in the grass with their new mates at the retreat! Unlike many catteries, we offer indoor/outdoor access allowing your fluffy-flatmate to stretch his legs and sniff some butt.

WHAT vaccinations does my cat need?

For all cats coming to lounge about at the retreat, it is essential that they have received vaccines for the 'core' infectious agents — these are:

• Feline panleukopenia virus (FPV)
• Feline herpesvirus (FHV), and.
• Feline calicivirus (FCV)

Is there a minimum OR MAXIMUM stay?

The minimum stay is 1 night... how easy is that?!?

We don't have any maximum stays either, so just let us know what you need and we would be happy to help you out!

what if my cat doesn't get on with another cat?

We have some private suites where your cat (or the other cat) can be housed, which gives them the security of being on their own, while still having a lush view out the native bush (seriously... it actually is a bit like that!)  Rest assured we make sure no cat is under stress, and all have a safe environment.

are you there 24/7?

We do live on-site, however I am not in the retreat building 24/7.  We tend to the cats many times a day and spend time with them all giving them food, cleaning their cabins, and playing with them.  We may not always be on-site as life does require living... but if there are cats booked at the retreat, we are certainly not far away at all!

Note - Our Viewing and Drop-off/Pick-up Hours are:

Monday - Friday: 8am to 9am, 5pm to 6pm

Saturday: 8am to 9am,

Sunday 5pm to 6pm

Please note we are not open Saturday afternoons or Sunday mornings. Please be respectful of this as it is a seven day a week commitment.

We can pick up and/or drop off your cat for you @ $10.00 per trip in the New Plymouth City limits. Please arrange this at time of booking.

what if my cat has special needs of some kind?

We are happy to cater to any cat, and will ensure that all their needs are met.  There may be additional charges for labour-intensive felines, or extra special requirements, so please let us know and we can make sure we're set to help your moggy have the holiday of a lifetime!

do you cater to special feline dietary requirements?

Definitely! Just like humans we understand some cats have intolerances, or require a special diet.  If they are on prescribed food we get you to bring that with them so we know we have the right stuff!  If they just have a fussy palate, we can work with that too! Just let us know when booking.
